Soul – MiniJam 72

I joined a Game Jam with 3 other teammates, to create a game within 72 hours with the limitation that Death needs to be a core mechanic within our game.

We brainstormed the game as a group and came up with the idea to use the death mechanic theme to have the player able to move around as a physic object but then able to move into a spiritual body to phase through objects and interact with things in the environment.

For this piece of work, I worked with the other team members to:

  • Brainstorm an idea
  • Plan and give out tasks
  • Review each other’s work

My personal role within the game Jam was:

  • Creating the particle system effect of the link between the players soul and body when the entered their ghost mode.
  • Created the Ghost world filter the player activated when going into the ghost world.
  • The spike traps within the map.
  • Basic patrolling enemy AI that would have them going through a constant patrol loop until they see the player character in Ghost and then running at them.
